Lexia

Lexia is an iPad program used throughout Franklin McKinley School District. This program is designed to improve literacy among our students. Each student is given a test and assigned a level. Students work independently to develop critical reading and language skills as they move through the levels. There are 18 levels. Each level offers development opportunities for the following literacy skills: phonological awareness, phonics, structural analysis, automaticity (or fluency), vocabulary, and comprehension. This program allows for individualized learning to occur in the classroom. Regardless of their skill level, each student can work at their own pace. Teachers are notified when a student passes a level or is facing difficulties in their current level. Teachers can use information gathered from students accounts to offer differentiated instruction to meet the needs of our students.

Lexia is mostly used as a literacy center during our guided reading blocks. Additionally, Lexia can be used at home with a computer or an iPad. Please ask your student's teacher for more information on home use. For more information about Lexia visit https://www.lexialearning.com/
