Little Heroes Recess Program

Los Arboles has begun a partnership with a recess program called Little Heroes. The goal of Little Heroes is to empower, mentor, and build leaders of the future. The program believes that inclusion and self-direction are key components in helping youth become leaders at school and in the community. Little Heroes strives to build confidence and ownership with each participant and provides mentoring and guidance to students. Our school is assigned a coach who will help facilitate games and play at recess. As the school year progresses, our coach will assist teachers in providing instruction on various games. For more information about Little Heroes, visit their website at http://www.littleheroes.org/.

Currently Los Arboles is working with Coach Lolo. Read his message below to learn more about Coach Lolo. If you need to contact Coach Lolo please email him at [email protected]

Hello Everyone,

I have worked with Little Heroes since 2016. Previously I worked at DJ Meyer Elementary School in the Alum Rock School District. My favorite part of the Little Heroes program is giving the students the ability to become leaders of the playground, as well as become positive influences in the school community. I've been working with kids since 2010. I started out as a SDC Preschool para-educator with San Jose Unified. In previous years, I have coached hockey and soccer. For the past couple summers, I've been working with Hockey Is For Everyone, which is an NHL initiative that uses hockey to foster inclusive community and promote positive social change. I have also coached summer sports camps helping kids to develop lifelong skills through sports. I am excited to be working at Los Arboles.

Sincerely,

Coach Lolo
